We had six attendees at our organization launch. We decided on our purpose, and decided on a name for the organization: ChiDEC – Chicagoland Doughnut Economics Coalition.
There is much good work being done by many groups, businesses, and local governments to transform incrementally towards a sustainable, equitable, safe place for all. We will look to work with other organizations. Where is there opportunity to assist, by using the tools available on the Doughnut Economics Action Lab (DEAL) website?
To get started, we set up four working groups. The purpose of each working group is to promote the use of Doughnut Economics tools and encourage a holistic view of sustainability and social equity, both locally and regarding the impact we have worldwide.
Our four working groups are:
Data Portrait of Place (any level). Quantitative assessments, targets, indicators. Use at any of these levels: neighborhood/community, municipal, county, state, country.
Grassroots, neighborhood, community. Ask us about informational sessions and interactive workshops. Case studies are available.
Local governments. Ask about nine different pathways to engage with local government. Case studies are available.
Businesses. Businesses and industries worldwide are using DEAL business tools, including over 300 businesses and 22 pilot workshops.
Lots more to do. What are our milestones? Who are the stakeholders? Add another working group for Chicagoland ecosystems? And much more.
Our next meeting is Tues. 5/13, 3:30 pm. Use our Contact form if you would like to attend.
